Over the course of the last week, I have had much time to reflect about what life is about. Why things happen, why things turn out the way they do. I am going to be vague about what I am talking about here, but the person I am speaking directly to will know. I know you tell me your nuts, but your not , your normal. You have the same fears we all do. You want what we all want. You need what we all want. Time goes by. Things change. Things stay the same. When things are different, things are the same. Nothing will ever change, except the calendar. Distance changes nothing it just proves what we both knew. We can never change. We need this. We want this. Mush is not bad it's what makes us cherish the moments we have. We are more normal then you thought. Again you are normal, you have the same fears as I do. The same concerns. We think more alike then you think we do. Funny how I bet you even missed the small talk, Didn't you? If you didn't understand what I am talking about then you aren't on a giant trip right now are you.... Say hi to Bow-Bow

This was the WOW shooter. Good is just an understatement. It almost made the quest over. Cocktail sauce on the bottom, oyster resting over that and the rest of the shot glass filled with chilled vodka. We almost went back for a second one. It is hard to even put into words how good it was. Mama's was packed that night and we did out shots just standing up along the wall, but it didn't matter. Around $6 each for these, but they were well worth it. As of February 2008 we consider this our Number One Favorite.

We didn't know at the time that the oyster shooter search had started, but it all started in Newport RI on an unusually warm weekend. We now know this would not be the best shooter we had but it was one of the more expensive at around $9 a shot. Since we didn't know we would be writing accounts of the shots at that point we don't remember the name of the place (but it might be H2O). The oyster was brought still on the half shell with cocktail sauce, a lemon and warm Grey Goose Vodka. Was it good ? Sure, but we now know that they can be much better. Also we were not Oyster Shooter experts at that point. So the whole experience was just learning. We now know they are better chilled. This did hook us on Oyster shots.

It all started rather innocently but now has turned into a quest of sorts. The search for the perfect oyster shooter. Any bar that has a raw bar usually has oyster shooters. A typical recipe may go something like this: Raw Oysters Tomato juice Horseradish Pepper Vodka Lemon Different bars will choose different ingredients, and you may get bigger oysters and more/less vodka. Variations on the alcohol also exist with beer and tequila being substituted for vodka. So where this story starts while on vacation in New England, Newport RI to be exact, GF Melon said she would try a raw oyster if she was really drunk. Well then we discovered oyster shooters and she didn't have to be really drunk, but it did involve alcohol. So since that day in early October we have tried several different places and I have decided to use the blog to keep track of which ones we liked a short review of each. The reviews will follow over the next few days.
